Responsibilities:
The Safety Coordinator will be the safety subject matter expert for their shift.
The Safety Coordinator will provide leadership for shift supervisors and shift personnel to maintain safe operation in all work areas.
The Safety Coordinator shares daily responsibility for helping ensure safety across the site.
The role will inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
This includes assisting with program development, reviewing and auditing as well as training of personnel related to facility safety programs.
This position will also be heavily involved with emergency response.
Must be able to work a rotating shift.
Safety responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
Duties include safety equipment inspection, maintenance and maintaining supply and availability.
Other duties include maintaining existing programs for SDS's, Security, employee credentialing, PPE programs etc.
Training responsibilities include development and delivery of facility training programs.
This includes safety related topics and emergency response training topics.
Able to maintain training documentation and records for new employee training, annual refresher training and conduct monthly safety meetings as required.
Emergency Response responsibilities include participation on all emergency response teams.
Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator and able to obtain a satisfactory fit test for respirators.
Able to work in extreme conditions, i.
e.
heat, cold in all levels of PPE, including emergency response conditions such as firefighting, rescue and hazmat incidents.
Additionally, the Safety Coordinator shall perform any additional required functions to health and safety activities.
Employee shall always demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors.
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Requirements High school education with industrial safety experience or general industrial experience in the chemical manufacturing field with related safety certifications such as COSS, ASP or emergency response certifications or a BS degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment or other safety related field.
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, regulations and procedures utilized within the safety field.
